Edge Connector and Data Collector in a hosted environment

When the Data Collector or JetAdvice Edge connector is installed in a hosted environment the following ports need to be open from the Hosted server to the network where the device is installed.

Data Collector

  • SNMP v1/v2 Port 161 TCP and UPD
  • SNMP v1/v2 Port 162 TCP and UDP
  • TCP 80 (HTTP)
  • TCP 443 (HTTPS)

The Data Collector uses the following ports to sent data to JetAdvice Manager.

  • Port 80 (HTTP)
  • Port 443 ( HTTPS)

Data Collector tor firewall requirements: See 2b in the troubleshooting guide

Edge Connector (preferred)

  • SNMP v1/v2 Port 161 TCP and UPD
  • TCP 80 (HTTP)
  • TCP 443 (HTTPS)

The Edge connector uses the following ports to sent data to JetAdvice Manager.

  • Port 443 ( HTTPS)

Edge connector firewall requirements: See 2b in the troubleshooting guide

Example:

The Data Collector or Edge connector is installed in a hosted server with IP: 192.168.0.1 (VLAN 0).

Each VLAN has the following IP structure:

  • VLAN 1 - 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254
  • VLAN 2 - 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.2.254
  • VLAN 3 - 192.168.3.1 to 192.168.3.254
  • VLAN 4 - 192.168.4.1 to 192.168.4.254
  • VLAN 5 - 192.168.5.1 to 192.168.5.254

Using Data collector

Ports 161 and 162 should be open from VLAN 0 (IP: 192.168.0.1) to all other VLANs so the data collector can discover and collect data from the printers in VLAN 1, VLAN 2, VLAN 3, VLAN 4 and VLAN 5.

Using Edge connector

Port 161 should be open from VLAN 0 (IP: 192.168.0.1) to all other VLANs so the data collector can discover and collect data from the printers in VLAN 1, VLAN 2, VLAN 3, VLAN 4 and VLAN 5.

This is how the network ranges for the different VLANs should be defined in the data collector.
