It is important to know and understand the different intervals of the Data Collector; Poll, Collect and Discover. These different intervals have a defined schedule for each interval type; which have been proven to maintain a high level of communication from devices on networks without impacting network traffic. 

Poll Interval: The time the Data Collector waits between calls to the server in case a special request of Collect or  Discover has been made from a user.

Collect Interval: The time between collecting data from known devices.

Discover Interval: The time between new network connected devices are discovered.

From the Data Collector menu, you can request a Collect or Discover by pressing the "Force Collect" and "Force Discover" buttons.

Can the Intervals be modified?
Intervals is always using default values, but can be changed by request in rare situations where the different intervals do not provide the required level of communication.

If you require the DCA to use less network bandwidth or CPU, you can request an increase in intervals (request will often be approved).

If you require the DCA to collect more frequently, you can request a decrease in intervals (request will rarely be approved).

Please send a description for why your account needs the discover and collect intervals to be modified and include the desired values you want to be used for discover and collect intervals.

We will then consider the new values and suggest which values to be used for discover and collect.
