How new devices types are added

When a new unknown device type is discovered we have an internal goal to have all information needed to make a good and fair evaluation of the device, all within one week

After discovery of a new device, information is gathered in 4 phases:

Phase 1) General Information

  • General Information will be gathered (Standard MIB)
  • Eg.: Host name, IPv4, Model Name, Serial Number, MAC address etc.

Phase 2) Counters

  • Next phase is concentrated on getting counters and supplies information in place
  • Eg.: Counters, like mono, color, scan, fax – supplies, order number, status etc.

Phase 3) Extended Information

  • Extended Information for asset management
  • Eg.: On some devices it is more than 1000 informations that are store in a priority order over time.

Phase 4) Datasheet Information

  • Datasheet Information.
  • Eg.: We collect a series of standard data from the manufactures PDF files.
