Credential Management HP SDS

Credential Management

When using JetAdvice Manager with HP SDS, it is required to not only have the JetAdvice Data Collector (JADC / DCA) installed, but also the HP SDS Client to allow for Remote Management (RM) functionality on supported HP devices.

Credentials

When credentials are set at the device level, the HP SDS client would not be able to have a full connection to the RM functionality without the same credentials saved in the HP SDS Client. Today, a new page has been added to JetAdvice Manager to allow the configuration of such credentials to match the credentials set in your fleet. Admin > HP SDS > Config

Devices without credentials defined will not be affected or be required to have the credentials set in the HP SDS Client. Credentials defined in the HP SDS Client are used when devices have credentials set at the device level.

There can only be one admin password defined in the HP SDS Client so it is recommended to create a fleet password used across all devices for EWS/Login to access the device settings

Note: Although the credentials are defined here when accessing the Remore Embedded Web-Server (REWS) still requires logging in to make changes through the printer portal.

Security

Although you are entering credentials through JetAdvice, the information is not being stored there, it is pushed directly to HP SDS and only stored in the HP SDS Clients.

Note: The credentials sent are not verified or validated. If you find functionality is not working as expected, you may re-apply the credentials to the HP SDS Client as needed.

Managing Installations

Because the credentials live only in the HP SDS Client, if your HP SDS Client needs to be moved, install the new HP SDS Client at the new location before uninstalling the old installation. Otherwise, the credentials will need to be set again.
