The HP SDS 2.0 feature called BlackBox is used to help technicians repair printers that have broken down and are not working anymore - giving them the last known errors experienced at the device. Helping the technician know exactly what the repair needs are.

What is required:

  • Device to have been seen in JetAdvice and HP SDS
  • Android mobile device
  • Android application "HP SDS" (available on the Google Play store)
  • OTG USB adapter

Configuring the HP SDS mobile app:

  1. Open the application
  2. Open the General Settings
  3. Change Callback URL to 
    https://app.jetadvice.com/Actions/HPSDSActions.aspx?ActionID=2&Token={ID}
  4. Set JAM server instance to 
    https://jamanagement.eu.api.hp.com/

How to use HP SDS app with down Printer:

  1. Make sure the printer is at least plugged in
  2. Connect OTG USB cable to the printer's daughterboard
  3. Launch the Android app
  4. Start collection
  5. Log in to JetAdvice when prompted
    - Due to the nature of the smaller screen of a mobile device, you may copy/send the URL to use on a PC or laptop.

     - Select the Dealer account (if needed)
     - Select the Customer account where the device is in JetAdvice
    - Press Start in the JetAdvice portal
  6. HP SDS BlackBox Collection will take place
  7. Device's Events page will launch in JetAdvice
  8. You will see a new Event called "BlackBox Import" (with a number of events)
    - if no events are listed under Event history, then they have already been imported
    (No duplicate events will be present)
