On an HP Jetdirect print server with firmware x.21.xx or greater, trap destination information can be set using Telnet.
Telnet to the IP address of the Jetdirect.
Type menu.
Select 3 for the SNMP menu.
Select 2 for the SNMP Trap menu.
Type Y to change settings.
The Authentication trap option will be displayed. By default this is enabled; to disable it use a zero. (Authentication trap is used to notify the trap destination that an attempt to use an SNMP set command on the Jetdirect with an incorrect community name occurred.)
Enter the trap destination IP address (the IP address where the Data Collector is installed). Press ENTER.
Enter the trap destination's community name. Press ENTER. (If not used, press ENTER.)
Enter the trap destination's UDP port number. (By default the Jetdirect will use 162.)
Press ENTER when finished.
Select N to exit the SNMP traps menu.
Follow the menu commands to quit and save.
Remember to cycle the power at the printer after making changes. This will clear the previous saved data and enforce the changes.
