How to define specific printers to be collected

If you only want to collect specific printers in a network you have to define specific network ranges and IP addresses to Include and/or Exclude.

Including:

You have a network range from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254.

And only want to collect these 4 IP Address's:

  • 192.168.0.25
  • 192.168.0.26
  • 192.168.0.27
  • 192.168.0.50

Then you define 2 network ranges and press Include

  • Name      -  IPv4 Start        IPv4 End
  • Range 1 - 192.168.0.25  192.168.0.27
  • Range 2 - 192.168.0.50  192.168.0.50

Result: Now the data collector will only collect data from 192.168.0.25, 192.168.0.26, 192.168.0.27 and 192.168.0.50.

Excluding:

On the otherhand, if you wish to not collect certain printers, you can define printers to exclude from being collected. You have a network range from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254.

And want to NOT collect these 4 IP Address's:

  • 192.168.0.25
  • 192.168.0.26
  • 192.168.0.27
  • 192.168.0.50

Then you define 1 network range and press Include (if not already created)

  • Name      -  IPv4 Start        IPv4 End
  • Range 1 - 192.168.0.1  192.168.0.254

Then you define 2 network ranges and press Exclude

  • Name      -  IPv4 Start        IPv4 End
  • Range 2 - 192.168.0.25  192.168.0.27
  • Range 3 - 192.168.0.50  192.168.0.50

Result: Now the data collector will collect data from all devices except: 192.168.0.25, 192.168.0.26, 192.168.0.27 and 192.168.0.50.

Please Note: If the IP address on the printer is changed to another IP address that is not specified in the network ranges, then the printer will NOT be discovered or collected. Print a configuration page from the device to ensure accurate IP information and add the new network range if needed.
