Not able to see local attached printer after installation of HP SNMP Proxy Agent. What could be wrong?

Here are 6 steps that should help you to identify if the HP SNMP Proxy Agent is installed correctly on the PC.

1) Check that SNMP is enabled on the PC.

2) Check if HP SNMP Proxy Agent is installed After you have installed the HP SNMP Proxy Agent on the PC's please check that SNMP service is enabled on the PC. When you open the SNMP service on the PC then you have to check that you have the Tap "Agent". The tap "Agent" show you that the HP SNMP Proxy Agent has been installed correct.

3) In security tab make sure "Accept community name is set to "Public" with "Read Write" rights and set it to "Accept SNMP packets from any host"

4) After install of the HP SNMP Proxy Agent and you do not have the tap "Agent" in the SNMP service then you have to check following. Please check the Registry on the PC where HP SNMP Proxy Agent is installed. On the PC you shall have this entry in the Registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\HP SNMP Proxy\PrnId (identifies the proxied devices on the client PC) If the entry is missing then run the installation of the HP SNMP Agent again using following options. hp_snmp_proxy.exe /s /i Then check to see if the entry can be seen in the Registry.

5) Make sure the local attached printer is set as the defaiult printer. 

6) Data from printers: To get data from a local attached HP printer the printer need to be installed with a DOT4 bi-directional capable driver or else it will not work. If the driver is a DOT4 bi-directional capable driver (DOT4 USB Communication Driver) you will first get data from the local attached printer after the printer has printed a job. If still no counters please make sure the HP printer is supported with the HP SNMP Agent.
